A Hugely Successful Kingston HomeGrown Live Raises $12,800 for Joe’s Music Mill

The recent HomeGrown Live event was a tremendous success, raising an amazing $12,800 for Joe’s Music Mill. This fundraising achievement underscores the community's support for music in Kingston.

HomeGrown Live ran a hugely successful event - with a record breaking line-up of 130 local bands (over 400 musicians) playing in over 16 musical venues. This was a remarkable display of local talent to the Kingston community - all across the city and  accessible for the purchase of a $10 all-day events pass.

“A huge thank you to the artists, venues, venue managers and organizers of HomeGrown Live for lending their remarkable talents and efforts in support to the Joe’s Music Mill vision of putting music in reach of everyone.”

Denis Leroux

President, Joe’s Music Mill

The funds raised will enable Joe’s Music Mill to maintain and expand its extraordinary library of over 1200 instruments - a uniquely Kingston public treasure.

With this support, Joe’s Music Mill can continue to fulfill its mission of giving everyone the opportunity to play a musical instrument. The benefits of music are well-documented, with positive impacts on education, mental health, and community building. Our community

programs and education initiatives are designed to make playing music something that is accessible to all.

“Wouldn’t it be great if everybody had the opportunity to play a musical

instrument?”

This vision of Joe Chithalen, in whose memory Joe’s Music Mill was founded, continues to inspire our work. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of HomeGrown Live and look forward to bringing the joy and benefits of music to even more people in our community.
